Obama becomes first black US president
WASHINGTON, 20 Jan .Barack Obama took the oath of office
of president of the United States on Tuesday using the
same Bible that was used to swear in Abraham Lin-coln.
Obama was the first president sworn in as the 44th president
using the Lincoln Bible since its ini-ble is part of the
collec-tions of the Library of Congress. Though there is no
constitutional require-ments for the use of a Bi-ble during
the swearing-Barack Obama swears in as the 44th president of
the United States of America in front of the US Capitol in

Myanmar hopes for policy change from Obama: official
Myanmar hopes that new US president Barack Obama will
change Washington's tough policy towards its military
regime and end the "misunderstandings" of the past,
a senior official said Wednesday.
The Myanmar government and state media have made no
official comment on Obama's inauguration, but the official
said on condition of anonymity that the country was looking
to the US leader to show his "good intentions."

Myanmar's top leader, Senior General Than Shwe, sent a
formal diplomatic note of congratulation to Obama in
November after he was elected but no details have been
released of the rare communication.
Myanmar's opposition pro-democracy party has also cautiously
welcomed the election of Obama, but said time would tell
if he could help open up the military-run country.
